Health Alliance International is excited to join the Washington Fair Trade Coalition and 35+ labor, trade, environmental, food, health, and social justice groups in commemorating the 20th anniversary of the WTO protests in Seattle.
In 1999, more than 50,000 of us marched in Seattle against corporate-centric globalization spearheaded by the World Trade Organization (WTO). We demanded a more just economy, that puts people before profits – and we caught the imagination of people around the world. Twenty years later, the struggle continues for genuinely fair trade that puts people and the planet first.
On Saturday, December 7, 2019 join us for:
● 10 AM Rally at Occidental Park
Speakers include Tefere Gebre from the AFL-CIO, Lori Wallach from Public Citizen, Manuel Pérez Rocha from Institute for Policy Studies, Larry Brown, Washington State Labor Council, Dustin Lambro from MLK Labor, and Robin Everett from the Sierra Club.

We plan a short welcome, then from 4 to 4:50, workshops on labor, environment, public health and immigration, with a short video from Bill McKibben, then 5-5:50, workshops on indigenous sovereignty and extractive industries, food sovereignty, people-powered movements, data and e-commerce, and trade and militarism.
