In 1987, the ‘Mozambique Health Committee’ (MHC) was established as a solidarity organization that shared the public-sector, socially minded approach of the Mozambique government. The MHC supported the new national government to develop its government Primary Health Care system. Now, more than 27 years later, HAI remains an organization committed to collaborating with donors, host-country governments and other key partners to implement quality health programs.
HAI’s program implementation efforts seek to strengthen primary health care for all, especially the poor and vulnerable. We do this by partnering with ministries of health and integrating key services into the foundation of routine primary health care services. Rather than developing separate programs, staffing and health facilities for specific diseases, we help governments to combine services together and offer them in one place so people can more easily access them.
Through the use of innovative approaches, HAI supports public sector health services to put research into practice, develop creative solutions to improve health care services, and build sustainable health systems for the future.
HAI currently operates programs in 3 countries, including Cote d’Ivoire, Mozambique and Timor-Leste. Find out more about how HAI works.
